Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between ceramic tile and porcelain tile?
A: Ceramic is made primarily of clay mixed with various minerals and water. This composition is then processed with heat to create the solidified product. Since ceramic material is porous, the top surface is usually sealed with a glaze. The glazed surface is referred to as the design layer since it determines the tile’s finished color, design and texture.
The primary ingredient in the composition of true porcelain tile, is finely-ground sand. Unlike ceramic, processing of the porcelain composition involves pressure and extremely high temperature. The end result is a very dense, glass-like material with a water absorption rate of less than 0.5%. Because of its density and composition of natural ingredients, porcelain tile has all the same excellent qualities of glazed ceramic.

Q: Should we buy the grout and mortar from you, or does our contractor/tile setter take care of that?
A: This decision is up to your contractor/tile setter. We offer high quality grouts and mortar at great prices.

Q: Do you stock any tile, or is it just a showroom?
A: We only stock 2 kinds of "stone-look" ceramics, but there a few of our distributors in the area that we can pickup from if the order is placed before 2pm, for a next day delivery.

Q: If I send my contractor in here to order, will we be able to get lower contractor prices?
A: We do give contractors a 10% discount, but some tiles can not be lowered if they are already on sale.

Q: Do you take returns?
A: We only stock a few ceramic tiles at the store, and everything else is special order. Any special order item is no return so we ask that you order just what you need because we can always get you more. Our store policy is no returns after 30 days, for special orders, or grout and sealer.
